GIVE YOUR SELF A FOOT
MASSAGE:
1) First, soak your feet in warm water spiced with
lavender and a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Or, you can use Epsom
Salts if you want unscented water. This soak will stimulate your
foot muscles and expel some of the tension that comes from
wearing shoes all day.
2) Apply lotion (not oil) to feet with long,
even strokes towards the heart. Grab one foot in your hands and
use both thumbs to apply gentle pressure to the tops of toes, the
top of the foot, and ankle. Rotate the ankle to loosen it up.
Knead the heel and ball of your foot with your thumb, using a circular motion. Repeat with the other foot.
3) To manipulate muscles
you don’t normally use, scrunch a towel with your toes. Lay a
hand towel flat on the floor. Put your foot at one end and curl
toes under, pulling the towel closer to you. Release. Stretch your toes
again and grab another portion of towel and curl your toes under,
etc. Repeat until the towel has been completely
scrunched.
4) Spread out the toes of your right foot and interlace
the fingers of your left hand between them; hold for a count of
5. Repeat on the left foot.
