These occur when an area of the
foot is exposed to constant pressure and friction. Prevent them
by wearing larger shoes, or add padding to the shoes you have. To
treat, use a pumice stone to scrape off the upper dead layers of
skin, then apply salicylic acid pads from your doctor. To avoid a doctor, massage petroleum jelly on the corn and the surrounding area,
and wear heavy socks to bed. Repeat until the skin is soft
again.
